will be shutting down Monday, October 29, 2018.

It's with great sadness that I announce that Syracuse Bands will be shutting down at the end of this month. It's been awesome building and managing this site since 2005. Through the years I've been proud to host this site for all local musicians and helping to promote them. However, over the last handful of years, there have been fewer users on the site, and more bands are joining other platforms with a larger audience. These, along with a few other reasons, I've decided to close down the site.

Thank you all for using the site and being a part of Syracuse Bands.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out -

Mike Frink:

Mike Frink is an American Singer-Songwriter. Mike is currently a Christian recording artist in the Ithaca, NY area with Sound Escape Records. He began playing various instruments and guitar at the age of three, and started writing lyrics in his teens. In 1977, launched his professional music career by playing lead guitar and vocals in numerous, regionally-successful bands as opening act for artists such as Asleep At The Wheel, Doug Stone, George Jones, Faron Young, Loretta Lynn, Bill Anderson, Lynn Anderson, and Wild Rose. He received awards for Vocal Duo and Instrumentalist of the Year from the Central NY CMA. Mike began his solo career in 1995, releasing his first independent album, "Red Letter", a solid Hard Rock project seasoned with melodic power-ballads. In recent years has joined central NY label, Sound Escape Records and has followed-up with the all-acoustic "Sojourn" in 2009, and the Heavy Metal "Apocalypse" in 2011; also re-releasing "Red Letter", re-mixed by Rick Romano. Mike is currently working on his fourth studio album, which will give Progressive-Metal a melodic edge. Mike has crafted a unique melodic rock sound, weaved with thoughtful, inspired lyrics and classic harmonies that have the same impact when played with a full band, or with just an acoustic guitar. A diverse mature rock and acoustic guitar styles are artfully structured and tastefully raucous. Every one of his albums has an integrated theme and a clearly defined message. The grooves and lyrics always complement each other and his signature counterpoint leads and answer-response to vocals clearly round out his signature sound. Mike's future goals are to open new markets for his music in digital distribution and licensing and is open to any reasonable requests to share his music.

Adrian McCloskey:

Adrian McCloskey was born in Ohio in 1965. His first introduction to music was at the age of 4 when his parents enrolled him in the Suzuki Violin Method. He learned the basics of music and theory during this period. At the age of 11 his family moved to Brooklyn N.Y. and began playing trumpet in his school jazz band. Soon after, his stepfather, Sonny Payne came into his life. Sonny Payne was a famous jazz/big band drummer who played with the likes of... Count Basie, Harry James and Frank Sinatra to name a few. One summer, Sonny took him on the road as a guest with the Harry James Band. Needless to say, after that trip he was sold on drums. He began his love affair with the instrument and has never looked back. He began studying drums with Sonny and has since studied privately with among others : Joe Morello, Gary Chester, Charlie Persip, Sam Ulano, Lorenzo Boston, James Preiss, Jim Payne and Kim Plainfield. His formal music education includes the Edward R. Murrow High School Jazz program, 5 years of university studies at the Local 802 New York musicians union education program at Lehman and Kingsborough colleges, and the Drummers Collective in NYC. He has played professionally since the age of 14 with various artists, going on the road at 16. He has played on national television and performed around the globe at world famous locations including the Apollo Theater and Madison Square Garden. He is currently teaching, performing and recording with various artists in the NY area including Rok Candy.

Bob Young

Bob Young is an American musician born in Geneva N.Y., he was inspired by his father Rawley, a very talented guitar player who's style was like his idol, Chet Atkins. He taught him the basics and he became hooked. Bob had played guitar, lead guitar and Bass guitar in several bands throughout his life, starting in the late seventies with "Cruzin", "Whiskey Run", and the very popular and longest running band in his career "The Fire Mountain Band" which won local talent shows including The True Value Country Showdown, opened for Johnny Rivers, this is where Bob honed in on the bass guitar and hasn't looked back, he also founded his next band "Lesego" which had a huge local following in CNY. It was after this in 1999 when Bob met Mike Frink who formed an original Gospel Rock Band "Red Letter" which included Bobs son Brandon on drums. Since then Bob has enjoyed playing music with his family in which 3 of his 5 sons are very talented musicians as well as his Wife Crystal who is and was an amazing Vocalist with The Fire Mt. Band. Bob and his family play Worship music one a month at Grace Cristian Fellowship in Cortland New York where they are members. Bob looks forward to his new musical endeavor Rok Candy and getting back to the classics ( Rock Classics ) so come on out and give a listen, you won't be disappointed!
